    Hello Natalie,

Can I be in the club, like a literary conscious 50 cent?

I think its a really good idea and I’m very impressed with the book choices.

Can I pop along and see what it’s about? I’ve been able to get a copy of the book from the library. How do I get this discount card?

  19. 27 Jeanette Martin September 29, 2012 at 2:06 pm

Hi, i am interested in joining the group, but I think I will be too late for the October meet. Would it be ok to come in November – that will give me enough time to read the next book.

    • 28 middlesbroughbookgroup September 29, 2012 at 3:09 pm

      Hi Jeanette,

You’re more than welcome to come to our next meeting to have a chat and meet the group but if you’d prefer to read the book first then that’s fine too!

  21. 31 December 15, 2012 at 7:57 am

Hello, I am interested in joining a book club in the MIddlesbrough area. Is the Tees Valley Book Club based in Stockton the same club as the MIddlesbrough Book Club that meets on the last Tuesday of each month in the library?
    Many thanks

    • 32 middlesbroughbookgroup December 17, 2012 at 9:43 pm

      Hi Holly,

Sorry for the late response. We are different from the Middlesbrough library book club and we meet in Stockton Central library on the first Tuesday of every month (apart from January as it’s New Years Day! We shall be meeting a week later for that meeting) and we meet at 6:30pm in the cafe area.

Please let me know if you would like more information.

      Merry Christmas!

  22. 33 December 19, 2012 at 11:58 am

Hello, thank you for your reply. It would seem that the MIddlesbrough book club has either stopped meeting or their details (location etc.) are a very well guarded secret!! Could you confirm the book to be read by the next meeting and this will now fall on second Tuesday of January please.

    Many thanks

    • 34 middlesbroughbookgroup December 20, 2012 at 6:03 pm

We used to be Middlesbrough Book Group but due to one reason and another we had to move, hence the name change, so you may be thinking about our old group.

We are reading The Casual Vacancy by J.K.Rowling and yes, we are meeting on the second Tuesday of January (8th).

Have a lovely Christmas and hope to see you next year!

  23. 35 January 7, 2013 at 10:59 am

Happy New Year! That sounds great, I look forward to meeting you all tomorrow 🙂

  24. 36 January 8, 2013 at 2:56 pm

Hello, unfortunately I will be unable to attend tonight’s meeting as I seem to have picked up a nasty bug from work. I don’t think I would make a great first impression if I was to pass it on to the group. See you next month.

  25. 37 Steph January 8, 2013 at 10:20 pm

    Hi Holly,

No problem at all. Hope you feel better soon. If you’d like to email me directly at I can keep you up to date with the group and what’s going on.

    Hopefully see you next month!

  26. 38 Joanne January 16, 2013 at 11:54 pm

I’d like to join if possible, can you tell me what time you meet and is it always a tuesday at the library?

    • 39 middlesbroughbookgroup January 18, 2013 at 4:44 pm

      Hello Joanne,

We meet on the first Tuesday of every month so our next meeting is at 6:30pm Tuesday 5th February and we are reading The Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan.

      Hope to see you then!

  27. 40 Joanne January 19, 2013 at 10:15 am

Thanks Steph. Will try to make it 🙂

    • 41 Joanne January 19, 2013 at 10:19 am

Or do I have to let you know in advance whether I’m attending or not? I’m new to this and don’t realy know the ropes.

      • 42 middlesbroughbookgroup January 27, 2013 at 6:17 pm

        Hi Joanne,

Thought I’d replied to this but I don’t think I have! Sorry – you don’t have to let me know if you’re coming or not. Just pop on down as and when you can.

  28. 43 Lucy April 17, 2013 at 9:17 am

Hi Steph, I’m interested in coming along to the next meeting – would you be able to let me know the date and the book that you’re reading?

  30. 47 Gary January 2, 2014 at 9:15 pm

Hello – curious about joining a book-club as I’ve never seen one in action before, but think I’m quite keen. Is the next meeting now not until February?

    • 48 middlesbroughbookgroup January 2, 2014 at 9:31 pm

      Hello Gary,

We’re actually meeting on Tuesday 7th January if you’d like to pop along and see what you think? You don’t have to have read the book but it’s called The Things we never Said by Susan Elliott-Wright. We meet at 6:30pm in Stockton Central Library. If you ask for the book group when you come in they will point you in the right direction!

      Hopefully see you then!

  33. 53 Clive Dunning March 4, 2015 at 2:59 pm

I would love to be involved with your book club. I did leave my details with Stockton Library, but that was almost a year ago, and I have heard nothing since.

    Many Thanks

    • 54 middlesbroughbookgroup March 5, 2015 at 8:01 am

      Hello Clive,

I’m afraid that your details weren’t passed on to me so apologies for not receiving a response. We meet the first Tuesday of every month from 6:30pm to 8pm and you’re very welcome to pop in at any meeting. The blog has all the details for the forthcoming books. We meet in a room upstairs and any librarian can direct you to where we meet.

Any other questions just let me know.

      Best wishes,

      Steph Roundsmith
