With the support of the Tees Valley Writers & Publishers project, we are setting up a new reading group in Middlesbrough.

The Blue Lounge Book Group will offer an informal monthly meeting for readers interested in sharing their views on contemporary literature in the relaxed and convivial atmosphere of The Blue Lounge bar.

The first meeting will take place in March when the book for discussion will be Apples by young Middlesbrough writer Richard Milward. In April the chosen book is Something Borrowed by Teesside-born Paul Magrs and in May The Good Father by Yarm-based novelist Marion Husband.

You can enjoy special food and drink promotions at The Blue Lounge on the night, and members of the book group can get a discount of 20% on all Blue Lounge Book Group titles at Borders Teesside with their membership card.

To get a card just email the nice people at New Writing North at blueloungereadinggroup@newwritingnorth.com (hello Sandra and Claire!) and tell them you want to come along and they will send you one!

    Hello Natalie,

Can I be in the club, like a literary conscious 50 cent?

I think its a really good idea and I’m very impressed with the book choices.

    Hello!

Can I pop along and see what it’s about? I’ve been able to get a copy of the book from the library. How do I get this discount card?

    Cheers!
